Ranworth Church – rood screen – St Georege
Spen Valley Wanderer posted a photo: The Church of St Helen in Ranworth, on the Norfolk Broads, is known as ‘the Cathedral of the Broads’. The church dates back to 1370, and contains three medieval treasures: the Ranworth Antiphoner, an illuminated manuscript book of services and psalms designed to be sung, dating from the early 1400s; a fifteenth-century cantor’s desk or lectern; and the best-perserved medieval rood-screen in the country, with depictions of the apostles, which dates from circa 1456. Depicted is St George slaying the dragon.
